On September 27th, 2022, State EV Infrastructure Deployment Plans for all 50 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico have now been approved under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program, which was funded by the bipartisan infrastructure law last year. This release gives access to FY22 and FY23 program funding, representing more than $1.5 billion.
Each state developed detailed plans and submitted them to the Federal Highway Administration / Department of Transportation for review and approval. The team at Batricity was actively involved in the planning for Pennsylvania and applauds this much-needed, ambitious program to build charging infrastructure throughout the country.
Battery storage plays a key role in this for several reasons, including resiliency (like during power outages) reduced strain on the electric grid, and serving as a non-wires solution when the correct type of electricity needed to power charging stations is not available at the charging station site.
